In 2008 we launched this new writing competition , encouraging aspiring wordsmith to celebrate the Rother District.
We appealed to local residents to wax lyrical about the towns, coast and countryside of the District in order to create a written snapshot of the area told in four categories: fiction, poetry, non-fiction prose and memoir.
The competion was judged by four Sussex based professional writers: thriller writer Andy Oakes; novelist, journalist and non-fiction author Charlotte Moore; poet, radio playwright and short story writer Catherine Smith; and poet and theatre practitioner Rosemary Harris.
This year we want to take the competition to the young poeple of Rother to get their views of the District. Details of this years competition and submission forms will be available from this site in due course.
